Well, our girl was a beauty known for miles around...
A beautiful young woman with dark colored hair was bustling around the kitchen, preparing a delicious meal. She dipped a spoon into one of the pots and raised it up to her pink lips.
"Mmm..." she replied. "Father will sure like this!"
She scuttled over to the cupboard and grabbed a bowl. She served it with soup and then placed it on the table.
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door. The young woman ran to answer it. A tall man in fine Victorian clothes stepped in, taking off his hat and coat.
"Morning father," she said hugging her the man. "How was work?"
"Hell," he said with a sigh as he walked into the kitchen. "I tell you, managing a bank is such a bother. A lawyer tried to make his way out of paying his balance. Phfft! Lawyers are no better than those meddlesome broth's."
His mood changed suddenly when he sniffed in the air deeply. "Did you make lunch again Emily?"
She nodded, slightly blushing.
Her father smiled as he sat down in front of the bowl of soup. "I don't understand it Emily. We have maids and butlers and yet you won't let them do their jobs!"
Emily chuckled. "Well, I need to practice for when I'm bethroed someday."
"Too soon to be thinking about that, don't you think?" he said with a concerned look.
He took his daughter's hand and gave her a bright smile. "Your mother would be very proud."
Emily smiled. "I miss her so much. Do you think...she's still watching us?"
"Of course I do," he responded. He turned from his daughter to wipe a tear from his eye.
"Well, I suppose I best be off then. I need to buy some vegetables and meat for tonight's dinner," she said reaching for the door.
"Alright dear, be home by sun down," he replied.
"I will!" She yelled as she ran out the door.
Awww! Emily's dad is soo nice! For now that is. Well, I'll get up the next chapter soon! Bye!
